DE SOTO, Wis. — A pair of familiar names from the Stoddard American Legion Baseball program will be representing Vernon County at the 2026 Wisconsin American Legion Baseball All-Star Game next month at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Griffin Hanson has been selected as a player for the prestigious All-Star Game, while Brian Wrobel has been chosen as an All-Star coach, an honor that recognizes his leadership and commitment to youth baseball.
The selections were announced by the De Soto Booster Club, which praised both Hanson and Wrobel for their dedication, sportsmanship, and contributions to the game.
For Hanson, the selection highlights years of hard work and development on the baseball diamond. He will join some of the state’s top American Legion players for the annual showcase event, which provides athletes an opportunity to compete at Major League Baseball’s home field in Wisconsin.
Wrobel’s selection as an All-Star coach is a testament not only to the success of the Stoddard American Legion program but also to his role as a respected leader in the community. In addition to his baseball involvement, Wrobel is well known throughout Vernon County as one of the owners of the highly successful Fortney Hotel in downtown Viroqua, a business that has become a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
The All-Star festivities are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, at American Family Field. The day will begin with on-field photos and pregame ceremonies at approximately 12:30 p.m., followed by the Minnesota Twins vs. Milwaukee Brewers game. The Wisconsin American Legion Baseball All-Star Game is scheduled to begin at approximately 6 p.m., following the Brewers game and the popular Kids Run the Bases event.
The honor gives both Hanson and Wrobel an opportunity to showcase the talent and character found in small-town baseball programs throughout western Wisconsin.
Their selections also shine a spotlight on the communities of De Soto, Stoddard, Viroqua, and Vernon County, which have long supported local youth athletics and American Legion Baseball.
As they prepare to take the field in Milwaukee, Hanson and Wrobel will carry with them the support of a community proud to see local representatives recognized among the best in Wisconsin.
