Damage contained to attic in Viroqua house fire

The Viroqua Fire Department reports they responded to a house fire around 11:30 Friday morning at 220 W. South Street in the City of Viroqua. Upon arrival, fire crews reported heavy smoke was visible coming from the soffit and roof area.

The fire was brought under control quickly and extinguished. The fire was contained in the attic
space of the structure. There was fire and heat damage to the attic space.

The department cleared at approximately 3:15 p.m. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.

Assisting Departments: Westby Fire Department, LaFarge Fire Department, Viroqua Police
Department, Tri-State Ambulance, Viroqua Streets and Utilities, Excel Energy, Madison Gas and
Electric.
