Culvert replacement will close State Highway 82 in the town of Webster this week

VERNON COUNTY, Wis. – A reconstruction project to repair State Highway 82 from State Highway 56 to La Farge is underway and will cause that road to be closed for part of this week so crews can replace culverts.

Starting at 6 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, east of Ames Hill Road, State Highway 82 will be completely closed for construction until 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24. But county officials cautioned that with the wet weather the project could stretch into a third day.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) plans to improve the pavement on this 11.1 mile section of WIS 82, from WIS 56 to the Kickapoo River bridge in La Farge. The roadway needs improvement because the surface is aged and deteriorated with extensive cracking and rutting.

Improvements include:

  • Pavement removal and replacement with asphaltic pavement
  • Replacing curb and gutter
  • Guardrail replacement
  • Centerline rumble strips
  • New pavement marking
  • Repairs to 2 bridges and 1 box culverts
