Crawford County Sheriff says excessive speed a factor in double fatal motorcycle crash

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Wis. – Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick reports an investigation shows excessive speed was a factor in the deaths of a Muscoda man and his passenger after he crashed his motorcycle into a rock wall near Boscobel on Monday. Sheriff McCullick states the accident happened about 10:13 Monday night at the intersection of State Highway 60 and U.S. Highway 61 in the Marietta township.

McCullick said the investigation determined that David Fillyaw, 43, of Muscoda, was operating a motorcycle at an excessively high rate of speed driving west across the Wisconsin River bridge on Highway 61 near Boscobel with his passenger Aleisha Bell, 42, also of Muscoda. The report goes on to say they investigation shows Fillyaw traveled over the bridge, crossed both lanes of Highway 60, and crashed head-on into a rock wall. Fillyaw and Bell were wearing helmets. Fillyaw and Bell were ejected from the severely damaged motorcycle sustaining life-threatening injuries. Fillyaw and Bell succumbed to those injuries, and both were pronounced dead at the scene by Crawford County Coroner Joe Morovits.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Boscobel Police Department, Boscobel Fire Department, Boscobel Rescue Squad, Steuben First Responders, Wisconsin State Patrol, Milo’s Towing Service, Crawford County Coroner, and Kendall Funeral Service
