Crawford County burglary investigation leads to arrest of rural Seneca couple, recovery of $30,000 stolen property

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Wis. – The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 44-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman as the result of an ongoing burglary investigation and the execution of a search warrant in rural Seneca. Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that a search warrant was executed to recover stolen property located at 53604 CTH S in the Township of Seneca on Saturday, March 1, following a lengthy burglary investigation,

Arrested as a result of that search were 44-year-old Charles Kirch and 42 year-old Angela Ziegler, who both reside at that location. The Sheriff’s report states Kirch and Ziegler are suspected of burglarizing a cabin and stealing an estimated thirty-thousand dollars’ worth of miscellaneous property; including, but not limited to, firearms, tools, décor, wood burning stove, ladder, electronics, and furniture.

The report goes on to say as a result of searching the premises, law enforcement personnel apprehended Kirch and Ziegler and recovered numerous items that had been stolen from the cabin and other places. Also discovered during the search were a sawed-off shotgun, methamphetamine, methamphetamine paraphernalia, and a stolen rifle.

Kirch and Ziegler were transported to the Crawford County Jail. Kirch was charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and bail-jumping. Ziegler was charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bail-jumping.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, and Crawford County Highway Department.
