LYNXVILLE, Wis. — Two Crawford County Highway Department employees suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when a county dump truck hauling gravel overturned at the intersection of County Road F and Wisconsin Highway 35 near Lynxville, authorities said.
The crash was reported at about 1:51 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
A preliminary investigation found that a county dump truck driven by Joseph Huber, 31, was traveling west on County Road F toward Highway 35 while carrying a load of gravel. As the truck descended a hill approaching the intersection, it experienced a mechanical problem that caused the driver to lose control, Sheriff Dale McCullick said in a news release. The truck overturned at the intersection and came to rest against a guardrail in the southbound lane of Highway 35.
Huber and a passenger, David Harvat, 36, sustained minor injuries in the crash. No information on their treatment or whether they were transported to a hospital was immediately available.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Seneca First Responders, Emplify Ambulance Service, the Crawford County Highway Department and Milo’s Towing Service.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
