Coon Creek Watershed meeting to highlight Fishers and Farmers partnership, water test kits

March 2, 2026

Around 40 percent of Wisconsin residents receive their drinking water from private wells, according to the Vernon County Health Department. The Department says those wells should be tested for bacteria and other pollutants at least once a year.

The Health Department, in collaboration with the non-profit Coon Creek Community Watershed Council (CCCWC), will be giving away free well test kits at the CCCWC’s March 4th meeting, as well as leading a well test demonstration and presenting on trends in well water quality across the region.

The CCCWC will also be launching its 2026 Fishers and Farmers project, which will fund soil health, flood resilience, and stream habitat efforts in the headwaters of the Coon Creek Watershed. US. Fish and Wildlife Service Fish Habitat Biologist Heidi Keuler will share more about the partnership at the March 4th meeting.

The March 4th CCCWC meeting will be hosted at the Coon Valley Conservation Club (S1005 Knudson Ln, Coon Valley). Dinner begins at 6pm, and the Council will call the meeting to order at 6:30. Like all CCCWC events, this event is free and all are welcome. A meeting agenda and more is available on the CCCWC website: https://cooncreekwatershed.org/events/cccwc-march-4th-meeting/
