City of Viroqua’s new brush and compost pickup schedule starts this week

May 1, 2026

The city of Viroqua announced some changes to their yard waste and compost pickup procedures this week.

Beginning Thursday, May 7, properties on the east side of Viroqua will have their yard waste picked up on Thursdays only. Properties on the west side of Viroqua will have their yard waste picked up on Fridays only beginning on Friday, May 8.  Main Street (Hwy 14) is the dividing line between east and west. If your address is on Main Street and you are on the east side of the street, you will be included in the east side pickup on Thursdays, and if you are on the west side of Main Street, you will be included in the west side pickup on Fridays.  Residents are asked to have brush and compost at the curb by 7:00 a.m.

The city will follow the same protocol as garbage and recycling pick up when there is a holiday or a reason yard waste cannot be picked up in a day. Meaning the schedule will shift back a day. For example, if a statutory holiday, or the observed holiday date, is on a Friday, yard waste for the west side will be picked up on Monday. Please note that yard waste can be taken to the drop-off site at any time. The residential drop-off continues to be Lewison Lane.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact City Hall at 608-637-7186.
