City of Viroqua says motorists should watch for lane changes for last phase of downtown Main Street construction

Highlights: Lane closure changes at  for work on East Court, East Terhune and in front of bus garage and South Street open tomorrow, Thursday , April 23

In a press release the city of Viroqua says motorists should watch for changes to the traffic lanes as the downtown Main Street realignment project enters its last phase. The statement says tomorrow traffic lane closures will switch to the last phase of the project at East Court and Terhune. This will be the same type of lane closures we have seen up to now, from just north of Court to just before South Street. Both East Court and East Terhune will be closed at Main. Tomorrow they will start removing concrete at those two intersections. Monday they will do storm sewer work and then start pouring concrete for the bumpouts and crosswalk. There will be a few days of concrete work and then some time for curing likely opening the first week in May.

Crews will also doing concrete repairs in front of the bus garage on south Main in the southbound lanes. Traffic will be shifted over to the western side of the street for the duration of the repairs. Also, expect lane closures near the Fairgrounds next week for the sewer project happening in the area, the same format with traffic traveling on the west side. It is construction season! All of these closures should be wrapped up in two to three weeks.

Lastly, South Street traffic signals are going up today but will not be operational until Tuesday.

Information about the project is available at the construction webpage on the city website.  If you have any questions, wish to set up an appointment to discuss sight specific needs one or one, or want to provide your email to receive these updates, feel free to contact me at 608-637-2937 or sgrainger@viroqua-wisconsin.com.
