City of Viroqua announces comprehensive plan survey

Feb. 28, 2025

VIROQUA, Wis. – Work on updating the City of Viroqua’s Comprehensive Plan and creating an Outdoor Recreation Plan along with a Historic Preservation Plan is progressing. City leadership along with members of the Plan Commission have been working with consultants from the firms Redevelopment Resources and Studio GWA to create a community survey.

Input from all members of the community is essential in shaping the vision of Viroqua’s growth and development. Residents, business leaders, and stakeholders are encouraged to take the 20-minute survey to provide thoughts on key issues and opportunities for the city. All feedback received will directly influence the plan’s priorities and goals.

“An up-to-date comprehensive plan provides the backbone for long-term decision making and will serve as a guide to how the community grows into the future,” said City Administrator Nate Torres.

A Comprehensive Plan takes a long term, big-picture view of the city’s future and makes recommendations for policies and strategies that will help realize the community vision, addressing key areas such as land use, housing, transportation, economic development, and others.

The survey is open and can be accessed via the City of Viroqua website here.

The survey will close on Friday, March 28, 2025. Paper copies of the survey are available at City Hall and McIntosh Memorial Library.

In addition to the survey, the City will host in-person engagement events where community members can learn more, ask questions, and share ideas. Information about in-person events will be made available on the City of Viroqua’ website.
