City of Viroqua and Vernon County both launch new websites, provide recorded meetings via YouTube

The City of Viroqua and Vernon County have both launched newly designed more user friendly websites in the last couple of months, and both the city and the county now have a YouTube channel where members or of the general public can go to access recordings of all meetings. The City of Viroqua site can be found here and the county site is here.

The city has been working a new site for the most of the year. McIntosh Memorial Library Director Trina Erickson led the project to work with developers and the department heads to gather the information for each page, and to make the site as user friendly as possible. The city calendar now allows users to access individual meeting agendas and information realted to the meetings. Erickson and City Administrator Nate Torres said the site is not 100 percent complete and they are still populating some pages with information, but it is already much more useful than the previous website.

The county has also been working for over a year on a new site that will integrate all departments and switch to a .GOV web address.

Both websites allow you to access meeting agendas and minutes via a calendar, our by clicking the specific committee to see all of their meetings and agendas.

City Website

Here is an example of the city website. Scroll down on the homepage to find the calendar with meeting dates or click on “Government” and then “Agendas & Minutes’ to get a the list below. The city YouTube channel is here.

You can also access the city YouTube channel by clicking on the TV icon in the top right corner of the page.

The County Website

Here is the county website calendar that allows you to access meetings by date.

Or you can access meeting materials including agendas and minutes by board of committee.

If you click on a committee or board you get a list of meetings with links to all the meeting materials and at the far right the county provides a link to the YouTube video if one is available. Keep in mind the county just changed its policy to require recording and posting at the beginning of the year so older meetings will not have a video available. And videos are recorded and they sometimes take a day or two before they get uploaded and posted to the county site. The county YouTube channel can be found here.
