CHASEBURG, Wis. — The Chaseburg Area Cancer Walk (formerly known as the Sole Burner) will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 20, with a full day of fundraising, remembrance, and community activities at Chaseburg Village Park.
You can read our story and see our video from last years event here.
This year’s theme, “20 Years of Hope,” honors two decades of local efforts to support cancer patients and families in the region. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and features food trucks, homemade soups, live music, raffles, kids’ games, a bake sale, and arts and crafts vendors. A silent auction and live dessert auction will also be held throughout the day.

The opening ceremony begins at 4 p.m. It will include recognition of cancer survivors and the past 19 honorary chairpersons. Becky Nerison, the 2025 honorary chairperson, will share her story. The ceremony ends with survivors leading the first lap. The live auction follows the first lap. The luminary ceremony is at 6 p.m. and the closing ceremony is at 6:30.
Registration for the walk may be done online at: cacwhope.org.
The cost is $25 for adults, $15 for children 17 and under and includes a T-shirt.

On Friday, Sept. 19, a blood drive will take place at the Chaseburg Village Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
Organizers say all proceeds from the walk stay local, helping fund lodging, transportation, comfort care, and early screening programs for cancer patients in partnership with area hospitals including Gundersen, Mayo, and Vernon Memorial.
