“Bring Your Own Book Club” returns to Viroqua Library for year two

The McIntosh Memorial Library is excited to kick off year two of its popular Bring Your Own Book Club (B.Y.O.B.C.)! After a successful first year, B.Y.O.B.C. is returning for more vibrant discussions, book recommendations, and fun literary discoveries. Whether you’re an avid reader or new to the book club scene, B.Y.O.B.C. is the perfect space to connect with fellow book lovers and share your latest reads.

B.Y.O.B.C. takes a fresh approach to the classic book club format. Instead of reading one set book, participants are invited to bring 1-3 books they’ve been reading each month. Share your thoughts, recommendations, and any insights into the books you’ve enjoyed recently. The flexible format encourages readers to explore books they love while discovering new titles they may have never considered before.

For those who like a bit of structure, each month will have a suggested theme to help guide your book choice. However, feel free to step outside the theme if you’d prefer! Here are the themes for the first few months of 2025:

• · January: A book that was turned into a movie
• · February: A book with a person of color as the main character
• · March: A strong female main character
• · April: A book you chose because of the cover
• · May: A book by a local author
• · June: An author who is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community
• · July: A book with an outdoor theme
• · August: A book about food
• · September: An author who is Hispanic-American
• · October: A new author as of 2023
• · November: A non-fiction book on any subject
• · December: A book set in another country

B.Y.O.B.C. will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at Magpie Gelato, located at 113 S Main St, Viroqua, WI 54665. It’s an informal, relaxed setting where readers can discuss their current reads, share recommendations, and learn about books they may have never considered.
