Body 20-year-old Chicago man who went missing on the Wisconsin River on April 3 has been found

A three month-long search for a 20-year-old who vanished into “volatile” Wisconsin waters has ended, police said. Francesco Di Filippo went missing on April 3 when a boat carrying him, his 75-year-old grandfather and one other capsized, according to Wisconsin Dells police.

The Wisconsin Dells Police Department released the following statement yesterday:

At approximately 2:13 p.m., the Lake Delton Police Department and Delton Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Newport Beach for a reported deceased individual in the water. The individual was recovered to shore, and based upon the clothing they were wearing, they have been identified as the missing boater, Francesco Di Filippo. Francesco has been missing since April 3, 2025.

The Wisconsin Dells Police Department sends its deepest condolences to the Di Filippo/Schultz family. While tragic, we hope that the recovery of Francesco provides a measure of closure for them.

I would also like to thank the numerous agencies, and countless volunteers and volunteer organizations that assisted in the search for Francesco over the past three months. Your efforts have been greatly appreciated.
