Monroe County authorities identify Wyeville couple who drown, say video evidence proves they died of accidental drowning

MONROE COUNTY, Wis – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is released a statement today regarding the deaths of Wyeville couple whose bodies were found in the East Fork Lemonweir River on Sunday. The statement identified the couple as Leath Lambert and Heather Larsen (Beckjorden).

The statement went on to say. in the midst of swirling rumors, the Sheriff’s Office continued to follow the evidence and facts of this case. We have determined conclusively from that evidence, as well as from recovered video evidence, that the couple died of a tragic accidental drowning after falling into the water.

We, here at the Monroe County Sheriffs Office, extend our condolences to the family and friends of the couple.

Bodies of man and woman who went missing after leaving a Monroe County tavern recovered from the East Fork of Lemonweir River

WYEVILLE, Wis. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office released a report totday stating they are investigating the death of two people who were located in the East Fork Lemonweir River on Sunday, May 4, in Wyeville.

A report from the Sheriff’s Office states they received a call around 2:45 p.m. from a subject advising that they had located what they believed to be a body in the water. The caller advised they had come to the area to look for two subjects who had not been seen since the night before.

Upon further investigation, the Sheriff’s Office found that the two people had left the Backwater Bar & Grill the night before and no one had seen them since. The Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of Ft. McCoy Water Rescue, Tomah Rescue Techs, and Oakdale Fire Department. A search was conducted of the waterway behind the property and the bodies of the man and woman who had been missing were located and recovered from the water.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate, however there is no indication of foul play at this time.
