VIROQUA, Wis. – – Natty Nation, the iconic reggae band, is bringing their beloved Bob Marley Birthday Bash to Viroqua for a celebration of the legendary artist’s life and music. The event will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Viroqua VFW and promises an evening of unity, empowerment, and classic reggae rhythms.
Founded in 1995, Natty Nation is a Madison-based reggae powerhouse blending roots reggae, rock, and soul with a positive message of peace, love, and unity. Renowned for their electrifying performances, they have earned a dedicated following across the Midwest and beyond. The group will pay tribute to Bob Marley’s revolutionary spirit with a setlist of his most powerful and socially conscious songs. Expect iconic tracks like “Get Up, Stand Up,” “Rebel Music,” and “Burnin’ and Lootin'” that continue to inspire resistance, equality, and peace across the globe.
Natty Nation’s tribute extends beyond the music—it embodies the essence of Bob Marley’s message of resilience and activism. With their signature sound and unwavering passion, the band will breathe new life into Marley’s anthems, creating a powerful and inspiring experience for all attendees.
For the third year Natty Nation has enlisted the skills of Milwaukee musician Michael “Ras Amerlock” McCutcheon on bass. This gives JAH Boogie, Natty’s lead singer and bassist, a chance to focus on the vocals. They of course are joined by drummer Paule Willis, keyboardist & backing vocalist Aaron Konkol, and Nick Czar on guitar and backing vocals.
The evening will kick off at 8:00 p.m. with local Viroqua DJ Smiley Sam, spinning classic reggae vinyl to set the perfect tone for an uplifting night. Polyrhythmic Roots, a dynamic instrumental reggae band, will follow with a short set that bridges the vibe from DJ Smiley Sam to Natty Nation’s headlining performance.
