Blue River man cited for leaving the scene of accident, open intoxicants in Crawford County crash

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Wis. – Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick reports a Blue River man was injured but cited for leaving the scene of an accident after crashing his vehicle in the Scott township on Thursday morning.

According to a Sheriff’s report 42-year-old John Kliesner of Blue River, Wis. was operating a sport utility vehicle on CTH W near Pony Lane around 5:46 a.m. on Thursday and lost control while negotiating a curve. Kliesner’s vehicle traveled off the highway and crashed into a fence and trees. The vehicle is believed to be a total loss. Kliesner did not report the crash and left the scene.

Law enforcement followed up with Kliesner and he claimed no injury. He was cited for failing to notify police of an accident, failing to keep a vehicle under control, having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, and an equipment violation. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Crawford County Highway Department and Terry’s Tire & Tow Service.
