May 9, 2025

WESTBY, Wis. – The Coon Creek Community Watershed Council held their Coon Creek Confluence event at the Westby Rod & Gun in Timber Coulee last Saturday. The event included over 30 vendors and organizations showing off products and ideas related to conservation, and kids activities . Live music by Mollie B & Squeezebox and Ted Lange, John Gay and Tapestry.

Mollie B. was the featured musical performer who also joined over 100 guests for a VIP dinner prior to her performance. The sit down dinner was catered from start to finish by Westby Schools Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCLCA) students. About 125 fishing poles with tackle boxes were handed out to kids through a partnership between the CCCWC, Trout Unlimited and Triggers and Tackle.

Organizers estimate around 800 people attrended the event and CCCWC President Nancy Wedwick said she could not be happier about the turnout and the connections the event helped create.

“Everyone enjoyed a beautiful day of music, food, and fun,” said Wedwick. “The FCCLA students prepared and served an impressive dinner to well over 100 people during the Lunch with Mollie B event and we are thankful for their wonderful participation.  We are very appreciative of the great learning experiences our conservation partners shared with all throughout the day, and we are grateful for the many businesses and vendors who participated and sponsored this event emphasizing the direct link between sound conservation practices and the economic health and well-being of businesses and communities.”

Organizers said the event made possible by a long list of sponsors and a $15,000 Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant form the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.
