Beverly grew up during the Great Depression, in Viroqua, Wisconsin. She met and married her husband Lyman Pollock after WWII. They had three children; Robert, Andy, and Cindy. In the 1970’s, the family moved to Arizona, where she remained. She lived a long, full life, leaving this world just shy of her 97th birthday.
Her passion was sewing, which she learned in childhood and continued throughout life. She was an avid quilter and made many of her and children’s clothes, as well as items for new babies she learned of, even if she didn’t know the family. She was still making clothes, dolls and doll clothes, tote bags, and other items, well into her 90’s. She generously donated quilts, dolls, and homemade items to numerous charities.
Beverly was also active in her Sun City retirement community’s craft group and enjoyed socializing with her friends there. She worked as a church secretary for many years. She made treks back to WI until her health and the pandemic interfered, visiting old friends and many relatives in the area.
She was known by family for her neatly kept home, and her son Robert dubbed her “Mrs. Clean.”
Beverly passed away peacefully at her care home, in October. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Leslie Thompson, her sisters Patricia, Janice, and Joyce, her brother Donald, her husband Lyman, and her son Andy Sr. Beverly is survived by her son Robert and his wife Alfa, daughter Cindy and her husband Brian Schnackel, her youngest sibling James Thompson, grandson Andy Pollock Jr., granddaughter Andreana Pollock, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved Miss Kitty who was her constant companion for 18 years.
She made THE best apple pie.
Beverly will be buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse, Wisconsin, with her husband and son. A celebration of life will be planned, at a later date.
