VIROQUA, Wis. — Comprehensive plans guide municipal decision-making in areas such as housing, economic development, recreation, natural resources, zoning, and historic preservation. Having an up-to-date comprehensive plan is required for municipalities like Viroqua to qualify for federal grants.
Earlier this year, the City of Viroqua engaged Redevelopment Resources, based in the Twin
Cities, to develop the comprehensive plan. The firm has been collecting public input through
online surveys, focus groups, and interviews. An upcoming community forum offers another
opportunity for community members to contribute their perspectives.
A community forum to gather public input on Viroqua’s 10-year comprehensive plan is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Commons, located at 401 E. Jefferson Street. Organized by the local community group Threefold Driftless, the event will feature a presentation by the lead consultant hired by the City of Viroqua to draft the plan, followed by public input.
Kristen Fish-Peterson, lead consultant at Redevelopment Resources, will present an overview of the comprehensive plan and share preliminary observations about the community.
