Viroqua Mayor Justin Running will try to defend his championship crown that he took home last year as the Amara Rose Foundation will host its third annual Chili Challenge, Saturday, March 8.
The event, which starts at 1 p.m., will be held at the Viroqua Eagles Club, 216 S. Rock Ave., Viroqua.
There will be a baked goods auction at 3 p.m., along with raffles and a silent auction, and music by Dan Sebranek & Mary.
Anyone wishing to participate in the contest may enter their chili and get more information at amararosefoundation.org. Chili entry is $20.
Admission is $10, and age 5 and younger are free.
According to the foundation’s website, the foundation is: “Honoring lives lost to addiction and fentanyl poisoning by raising awareness, educating, promoting prevention, encouraging those in recovery and helping those who are struggling and their families.”
The Amara Rose Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) charity that was founded in 2022 by Randall and Heidi Overson and Jeff Richardson. On Jan. 7, 2022, they lost their daughter, Amara, to accidental fentanyl poisoning. She was 31.
