Alcohol a factor in Crawford County ATV crash that injured two people

TOWN OF BRIDGEPORT, Wis. – A 40-year-old man from Prairie du Chien faces alcohol related charges after losing control an ATV he was driving over the weekend, injuring two people. Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that around 5:29 p.m., on Saturday, May 18, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash on Bouska Rd. near US Hwy 18 in the Township of Bridgeport.

The Sheriff’s Office report states that an investigation determined that Daniel Jones, 40, of Prairie du Chien was operating an ATV on Bouska Rd. and traveled into a gravel driveway to turn-around. The report goes on to day as Jones was turning the ATV around, he rapidly accelerated, lost control, and overturned. Jones and his passenger, Mary Miller, 30, of Prairie du Chien, sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. The ATV received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office says Jones exhibited signs of impairment and was charged with operating an all-terrain vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant causing injury. The case remains under investigation and additional charge(s) are pending.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Bridgeport First Responders, Bridgeport Fire Department, Prairie du Chien Police Department, Gundersen Ambulance, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and Milo’s Towing Service.
