A Viroqua home suffers smoke and fire damage

VIROQUA, Wis. – No one was injured but a house on Linton Street suffered heavy fire and smoke damage on Friday afternoon. Viroqua Fire Chief Chad Buros said no one was home and a passerby noticed flames coming from the windows of the home about 3:20 Friday afternoon and called the fire department.

Buros said when crews arrived flames were coming from windows in the kitchen area of the home. Buros said they were able to bring the fire under control quickly but the fire had already caused a fair amount of damage. No one was injured and the cause fire is still under investigation.

Buros said crews were in the scene for about an hour and half and the two residents of the house were assisted by the American Red Cross.
