Registration for the annual Vernon County Stuff the Bus now open

As families prepare for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, McIntosh Memorial Library of Viroqua, is proud to announce the return of Stuff the Bus Vernon County, an initiative dedicated to ensuring every child has access to the school supplies they need—free of charge.

Stuff the Bus provides backpacks and essential school supplies to students from Pre-K through High School who are enrolled in any Vernon County school district, including homeschool students.

“This program is designed to eliminate barriers to education by supplying tools that foster success in the classroom,” said program coordinator Maggie Strittmater.

Registration Details

· Opens: Monday, June 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM

· Closes: Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 11:59 PM

· Where: at McIntosh memorial Library under Services, and Stuff the Bus, or follow the link: https://form.jotform.com/250925053365153

· Note: One registration form is required per student.

Pick-up locations will be listed on the registration form and include Hillsboro, Westby, De Soto, La Farge, Coon Valley, and Ontario public libraries. The pickup location for Viroqua students will be held at Bethel Home and Services. The distribution will happen in early to mid-August.

Who is eligible?

· Students in Pre-K through 12th grade attending any school district within Vernon County, including homeschooled families.

· No proof of income is required. While the program is intended to support families in need, it is open to all eligible students within the county.

· The program is not offered to students in school districts outside Vernon County (e.g., Sparta in Monroe County).

What’s Included?

Each backpack is filled with grade-appropriate school supplies based on school-provided lists. Families may choose to receive a backpack, supplies, or both.
