One person hospitalized in Soldiers Grove crash

SOLDIERS GROVE, Wis. – The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at approximately 11:15 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US Highway 61 and East Sunbeam Blvd. in the Village of Soldiers Grove.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Anthony France of Viroqua, Wisconsin, was operating a pickup truck south on US Highway 61, and as he was preparing to make a left-hand-turn onto East Sunbeam Boulevard, he was rear-ended by a sports utility vehicle operated by Bonnie Amundson, 67, of Sparta, Wisconsin.

Amundson sustained minor injuries and she was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.  Amundson was cited for following too close, and France was cited for no seat-belt and no insurance.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Soldiers Grove Fire Department, Soldiers Grove Public Works, North Crawford Rescue Squad, Sleepy Hollow Towing Service, Terry’s Tire & Tow Service, and passerby motorists.
