VERNON COUNTY, Wis. —Five public libraries in Vernon County, along with the Driftless Writing Center, are pleased to announce the rescheduled conclusion date of the 8th Annual Vernon County Reads. In 2024, this annual program will feature the work of renowned Wisconsin author Jennifer Chiaverini. The program will culminate with a special presentation by Chiaverini on Wednesday, November 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the Westby Performing Arts Center.
Residents are encouraged to visit their local public library to explore Chiaverini’s captivating works, including her latest release from the beloved Elm Creek Quilts series “The Museum of Lost Quilts”, which debuted in April 2024. With thirty-three novels to her name, including critically acclaimed historical fiction and the celebrated Elm Creek Quilts series, Chiaverini has captivated readers with her storytelling.
The event on November 20 is free of charge. The program will feature a presentation by Jennifer Chiaverini, followed by a book signing, during which copies of her works will be available for purchase.
Since her debut novel “The Quilter’s Apprentice”, in 1999, Chiaverini has created a rich tapestry of narratives highlighting the artistry, tradition, and community inherent in quilting. Her work resonates with themes of cultural and political significance, reflecting the journeys of remarkable women throughout American history.
Chiaverini’s accolades include the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Library Association in 2020 for her novel “Resistance Women”, and in 2023, she was honored as a Notable Wisconsin Author for her impactful contributions to the state’s literary landscape.
Jennifer Chiaverini holds a degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago. She resides in Madison, Wisconsin, with her husband and two sons.
