VIROQUA, Wis. — On Saturday, May 31, the heart of Wisconsin’s Driftless Region will come alive with clinking glasses, lively music, and the warm glow of shopfronts as the 5th Annual Viroqua Beer Walk welcomes visitors to explore downtown Viroqua’s historic charm—one pint at a time.
Hosted by the Viroqua Chamber and presented by Nelson’s Agri-Center, the Beer Walk invites guests to stroll between 19 local businesses housed in preserved buildings dating back to the late 19th century. With each stop offering a taste of Wisconsin’s best craft beers and microbrews, the event is both a celebration of local flavor and a testament to small-town resilience and revitalization.
“This event is about more than beer,” said Aaron Aslin, Executive Director of the Viroqua Chamber. “It’s a chance to step into the story of Viroqua—to experience a community that’s deeply proud of its heritage, optimistic about its future, and celebrates its welcoming downtown.”
Attendees receive a custom pint glass, punch card, and walking map to guide their tasting journey. New this year is a “Dress your Favorite Decade” theme for a fun chance to let historic styles abound, and three local food-trucks to get walkers ready for the night ahead! The evening kicks off with a ceremonial keg tapping and continues with stops at local business spread throughout historic downtown Viroqua.
Historic Downtown in the Spotlight
The Beer Walk comes at a time when Viroqua is making headlines for its successful efforts in downtown revitalization. Thanks in part to a Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Community Development Investment Grant, the city is transforming the historic WPA-era bath house at 220 Rock Avenue into the new Viroqua Welcome Center—a year-round hub for visitors and the future home of the Viroqua Chamber.
Set in the heart of downtown and steps from the Beer Walk route, the Welcome Center will serve as a gateway to the Driftless, connecting locals and visitors alike to the businesses, trails, and cultural life that define the region.
Tickets Now Available
Tickets for the 2025 Viroqua Beer Walk are $40 for general admission (includes glass, punch card, and all tastings) and $10 for designated drivers, who can enjoy snacks and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the evening.
Advance tickets are available on the Chamber website and will be sold at check-in. Participants must be 21 or older and present valid ID at check-in. In case of severe weather, the event will be rescheduled for June 14.
