WAUZEKA, Wis. – The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Wednesday, November 15th, at approximately 8:54 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment complex located at 170 County Highway N in the Village of Wauzeka.
An investigation into the incident determined that Daryl Vandecreek,56, Jeffery Hazen, 49, and Amy Rodenberg,43, of Wauzeka were socializing with one another while consuming alcohol. At some point during their interaction an altercation occurred between the three of them, and Hazen stabbed Vandecreek approximately 18 times with a knife.
Vandecreek was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and airlifted to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Vandecreek’s in stable condition and cooperating with law enforcement. Hazen was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, reckless injury, threat(s) to law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Wauzeka First Responders, Boscobel EMS, Prairie du Chien Police Department, Boscobel Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, and Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Scene Response Unit. This incident remains under investigation.
