SPARTA, Wis. – According to the Sparta Police Department 44-year-old George Solis of Tomad, WI appeared in Monroe County Circuit Court on Monday for multiple charges stemming from the Nov. 23 stabbing incident at a residence on East Main Street in the City of Sparta.
According to previous press releases Sparta Police say that shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23 Sparta Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600-block of East Main Street for a reported stabbing. The first officer arrived within a minute and located a male suspect exiting the front of the house. The suspect was uncooperative but was taken into custody after additional officers arrived. Officers and paramedics determined there was one victim with stab wounds. The adult male victim was transported by Sparta Ambulance to a trauma center where he was taken into emergency surgery.
Monroe County District Attorney Kevin Croninger filed the following charges against Solis:
- • Two counts of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide
- • Mayhem
- • First Degree Reckless Injury
- • Aggravated Battery
- • First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
- • Two counts of felony Bail Jumping
- • Disorderly Conduct
Sparta Police say at the time of his arrest, Solis was on bond in two active Monroe County cases. Due to his failure to appear in court, Solis also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
On Monday Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Todd Ziegler imposed a $500,000 cash bond along with multiple bond conditions.
According to Sparta Police the victim of the incident is still hospitalized but expected to survive. The Sparta Police Department say they will not be releasing the victim’s identity due to safety concerns.
