VIROQUA, Wis. – The third annual Ridges & Rivers Book Festival will be held on April 26, 2025, in Viroqua, Wis. and will again showcase the talents of writers and artists with an art show and book fair and author presentations.

The relationship between words and images has long been a fruitful and engaging partnership—from book jackets and covers to interior illustrations to children’s picture books, and the book festival’s art show and contest gives artists a chance to put their own stamp on this by encouraging submissions that highlight the deep connection between the visual and literary arts. More information—and suggested prompts to inspire creativity—can be found on the festival’s website (www.ridgesandriversbookfestival.org) or by contacting Maggie Strittmater at m.strittmater@wrlsweb.org. The deadline for submitting entry forms and photos of the artwork to ridgesandriversbookfestivalart@gmail.com is April 6, and delivery of the actual artwork must be done between April 19 and April 24.

As well as celebrating the visual arts with an art show and contest, the Ridges & Rivers Book Festival also sponsors a book fair, which gives authors and readers a chance to interact personally and gives writers an opportunity to read from their work.

“I always enjoy seeing the art show and perusing the offerings at the book fair. It’s a great way to celebrate the abundant creativity in the area,” said Julie Mills, an attendee of past book festivals.
