Vernon Count Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports the arrest of a 23-year-old Viola, Wis. man
as the result of a multi-agency drug trafficking investigation.
According to Sheriff Torgerson on Thursday morning, Apri1 6th, 2023, at approximately 5:15 AM, a sheriff’s department deputy stopped a vehicle in the village of VioIa, for a traffic violation. Hunter M. VoIden, identified as a passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in violation of the conditions set forth in a $3,000 cash bond, stemming from a November 27th, 2022, arrest when over one ounce of Methamphetamine, approximately one hundred grams of Marijuana, and several hundred dollars in cash were seized.
Following the November arrest Volden was formally charged with:
1) Operating With a Restricted Controlled Substance
2) Possession With Intent to Deliver Amphetamine or Methamphetamine
3) Possession with Intent to Deliver Tetrahydrocannabinols
On April 6, Volden was arrested and booked into the Vernon County Detention Center for Felony Bail Jumping. The drug investigation accelerated and early that afternoon, a search warrant was executed by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and Viola Police Department, with the assistance of the Crawford County Sheriff’s office. Several items were seized including about fifteen pounds of raw marijuana, over three hundred grams of THC wax, and several grams of methamphetamine. The estimated street value of these drugs exceeds forty thousand dollars.
A bail hearing was held on April 6 and bond was set at fifteen thousand dollars cash. As of today, April 20, Volden remains in custody.
Volden made an appearance in Vernon County Circuit Court via video to ask for a bond reduction this week. Vernon County Circuit Court Judge Darcy Rood denied that request and Volden remains in custody.
Volden is due back in Vernon County Circuit Court on May 3, at 8:30 a.m. Formal charges will be sought through Vernon County District Attorney Timothy J. Gaskell. Sheriff Torgerson said the investigation continues and went on to commend everyone involved for their part in keeping our communities safe.
