22-year-old Reedsburg man dies at Richland County July 4 celebration

CAZENOVIA, Wis. – The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a preliminary investigation seems to indicate that 22-year-old Ethan Peper of Reedsburg died after falling from a pickup truck near Cazenovia on July 4.

Authorities in Richland County say they were called to Dix Lane in rural Richland County at about 11:25 p.m. on a report of male party who fell from a truck and was unresponsive. Reedsburg EMS and UW Medflight were also requested and arrived on scene. Life saving measures were attempted immediately on the male party, but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

A Sheriff’s report states several witnesses who were present during the incident were unwilling to speak with Law Enforcement and give statements as to what had occurred. The report goes on to say the initial investigation from what few witness statements could be gathered described Peper seated on a tailgate of a truck when he fell onto the roadway.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is still on-going at this time and the they believe there are people who witnessed this incident with more information.
