17-year-old driver suffers minor injuries after striking deer

VIROQUA, Wis. – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office reports a 17-year-old driver suffered minor injuries after striking a deer on County Road J in the town of Franklin around 7:30 a.m. on on Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s report says Jadence E. Nagel was driving east when a deer unexpectedly entered the road. Nagel reported that sun glare prevented her from seeing the deer in time to avoid a collision. Nagel sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries from the airbag deployment. After being evaluated at the scene, Nagel was transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare by private vehicle.

The Viroqua First Responders, Viroqua Fire Department, Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance, and Sleepy Hollow Auto assisted at the scene. Sheriff Torgerson reminds motorists to exercise caution, especially with the increase in deer activity leading to more frequent deer-related crashes.
