Minor injuries reported in State Highway 56 crash

VIROQUA, Wis. — Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports that on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at about 4 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the town of Viroqua.

Pawanpreet Kaur, 31, of Viroqua, was driving east on State Highway 56 and lost control of their sport utility vehicle on a curve near Elm Drive. The vehicle left the right side of the roadway and came to rest upright.

Kaur was wearing a seat belt and reported minor injuries. Two passengers, ages 1 year, 11 months, and 1 year, 3 months, were secured in forward-facing child restraints and were not injured.

The roadway was wet at the time of the crash.

Assisting at the scene were the Viroqua Fire Department, Viroqua Emergency Medical Responders and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
