Kickapoo Valley Reserve asking paddlers to avoid section of Kickapoo River due to blockage, high water

July 1, 2025

The Kickapoo Valley Reserve (KVR) issued a notice today that there is a large total blockage on the Kickapoo River between Landing 12 and Bridge 13. The statement says portage is around the blockage is extremely difficult because of very steep and muddy banks, both upstream and downstream of the blockage. In addition water levels in the river, are above normal and the water is fast moving.

The KVR recommends avoiding the section of river between Landing 12 and Landing 14 until crews are able to clear the blockage.
